How to use LinkedIn to monetise your network.

Already a Facebook, MySpace and Twitter user I drew the line at joining LinkedIn. What value could I possibly get out of using another social network?

Turns out it’s not just corporate peeps who use LinkedIn, i caught up with Cristina Hoole, LinkedIn Marketing and PR Director Europe, who told me how I can use LinkedIn to monetize my network and connect with lots of people including Barack Obama and even James Blunt!

Perhaps i’ll give LinkedIn another go…come find me here:

Good video although I am not convinced that James Blunt has actually logged in (he is identified as looking for career opportunities, hmmm). I must admit that I use Linkedin for 3 reasons:

    1) Keeping track of past coleagues when they move jobs
    2) Seeing who is lookin at my profile (either potential clients or headhunters) which provides a rough guide to the market
    3) Being my on-line CV for potential clients

The one point that is true is that it does provide a top ranking for your name on a Google search. Think of Linkedin as Facebook in a suit.
