Insomnia again, so some late night browsing for me… Just saw an open letter from Mark Zuckerberg in my Facebook feed …They’re ditching regional networks so users can better control their privacy..will it work?

I think it’s great, long overdue news, though I see they don’t allow you to choose for your posts to go to just specific groups (lists) of friends, or exclude them – which they do allow for things like who can see individual photo albums. So you can’t write a message about your boss and then set it so that he/she and all your other colleagues can’t see it, for instance.
The way the networks worked never really made sense once they took down the network pages (which were a bit like group pages), especially as you can just join them for cities without being checked at all, so it’s about time they were retired.
