An invitation to an event that will change the world of retail – meet the man behind it!

On Wed at 9pm  GMT, Australian Internet entrepreneur Ruslan Kogan, who has already disrupted the consumer goods industry in Australia with his own brand TVs that sell online, is going to livestream an international concept of a new site that will change the way people buy consumer goods.

Make sure you bookmark this page and tune in to see Ruslan demo the new site and explain how it works. You can also follow him on Twitter.

I meet lots of interesting people, but Ruslan really is an interesting character who is on a mission to change the world, he has already paid the deposit on a $200,000 ticket to space on Virgin Galactic and tried and failed to get a job at McDonald’s to learn about its business processes, of which he is a huge fan.

If you are a blogger/journalist and would like to come down to Covent Garden tomorrow and meet him yourself, please email me and I might be able to fit you in hermioneway@newspepper.com

The stream is currently password protected , it will be open by the time the stream goes live tomorrow.

New Hellotxt app for your iPhone or Android!

Hellotxt has a fun new iPhone and Android application that lets you connect even more with your friends and family! For those of you who haven’t heard the buzz, Hellotxt allows users to interact with a single “digital frame” where they can share and receive text and media to and from multiple social networks, via iPad, iPhone, Android or web. Version 2.2 lets you do some pretty cool stuff with your posts and gives you a smarter reading experience with the smartfeed view. The dashboard is similar to the older version, with geolocation, photo posting and tweeting, but the smartfeed view and the doodle feature have been upgraded. With the smartfeed view, you can click to add comments right onto Facebook, which is visible both on the Facebook website and on your own personal feed, and retweet your friends tweets right from your iPhone, iPad, or Android. With the doodle feature, you can now add stamps, clipart, freehand doodles and personal messages to pictures and post them on your friends’ walls. Once your friend gets it, they can choose to doodle something back to you – they don’t even need Hellotxt to do it!

In their words, “At Hellotxt we’re trying to inject some fun back into social networking, through simple and intuitive design and features…users save time and have more fun because updates are relevant, all in one place, and across varying networks.” Try it out and decide for yourself!

Alright, you’ve heard me talk about it. Now check out Ryan’s video to watch him demonstrate how it works!

LimeGreen Accountancy tells us why they love Clear Books

Book keeping, while often rather tedious and annoying, is a crucial part to keeping any small business afloat. It’s quite helpful when a company comes along who can help us all make this job a little easier, so we wanted to feature a startup company who does just that. Clear Books is a startup that provides online software with time-saving tools for book keeping and other areas of accounting for small businesses. Clear Books allows you to log in and invite your accountant to join Clear Books so that they can log in and review your accounts, no doubt keeping your accountant’s bill to a minimum.

We sat down and talked with Kaziu Gill of LimeGreen Accountancy, a company that provides accounting services to small businesses in the creative industry. Check out the video to see why LimeGreeen loves using Clear Books for their company.

Think It All Happens in Silicon Valley? You’re Wrong! myTVR & the last of the Melbourne Silicon Beach Series!

Australia; it’s not just about sandy beaches, beers and bbqs, Melbourne (and Sydney) have thriving digital and tech communities and this month, entrepreneur and technology journalist Hermione Way and her team at Techflufftv will be exploring the startup scene interviewing the hottest startups for The Next Web Australia’s Melbourne Silicon Beach Series.

Sponsored by KodakSilicon Beach Australia and The Next Web, Techfluff.tv decided to delve a little deeper into Melbourne’s startup scene and video interviewed ten of these companies.

For our last interview we caught up with Michael Carew from myTVR. Michael talked to us about the importance of knowing their revenue model early as well as identifying the biggest issues the myTVR team are facing and how they’re able to tackle them as a Melbourne startup.

Well, that’s it – we’re all done! Australia is just buzzing with hot tech startups and we’ve featured our top ten as a part of this series – BinaryPlex, Eventarc, Skitch, 99Designs, Adioso, Stateless Systems, RedBubble, Kaggle, QMCODES, and myTVR. It’s proof that it doesn’t all happen in Silicon Valley!

We want to give a BIG thank you to Leila Bagundol for all her hard work with this series!
