Fibreca.mp is a studio space with tech support that cuts out the expensive middle men

You want to be social with your business and make your service personal… so you decide to make video content. Problem is you don’t have any presenting or editing skills and can’t afford to outsource to an expensive production company. Cue Fibreca.mp in the Lace Market area of Nottingham.

Phil Campbell wanted to make a studio space with all the kit – cameras, mics, lights, green screens, editing software  and technical support through the whole production process – that businesses can use to make professional videos at reasonable prices.

Equipment has been donated and don’t worry about uploading the final product – they’ve got a super-fast fibre optic internet connection.

Think it all happens in Silicon Valley? You’re wrong! It happens in Nottingham too.

To kick start the new year, in January TechfluffTV is travelling up to Nottingham. We reckon that sometimes tech in the UK can get a bit London-centric so we’re visiting another city that has another promising tech scene.

We’ll be going to all the top tech events in Notts, speaking to the hottest tech startups and generally finding out what makes tech tick in the East Midlands.

CJ Lyon is on the board of ITAC - the Independent Theatre Arts Committee, has worked with the Arts Council England, Architects Journal and Paypal, is director of PCM Creative and provided Twitter conversation curation at the Social Media in Business conference last year. She’s been a social media adventurer based in Nottingham since the early days.

TechfluffTV met up with her for an introduction to the Nottingham tech scene and to find out how the unique relationship between tech and the arts has grown in the city.
