The Cab App Battle is ON!

Never has getting from A to B been so complicated…not the mode of transport but the decision on which service to choose! With numerous taxi, black cab and car services launching in London, the question now, is who to book with!

A couple of week ago, Le Web London gave the stage over to a battle of sorts -Hailo vs Uber. Having organised interviews with both Travis Kalanick of Uber and George Berkowski of Hailo, the word started to spread and soon interviews with similar apps Kabbee and ubiCabs were being booked in.

After interviewing representatives from four of the leading taxi/car service apps, the debate was definitely in full force. They aren’t complete clones of each other, there are some key differentiators between the apps; with some providing a comparative shortlist of the most suitable taxi service dependent on factors such as proximity, rating and price, some comparing fleets of cabs and some working with black cabs or luxury cars.

Personally I want the easiest and most cost effective service. Preferably one or two clicks before my car is on it’s way. There is no doubt that Uber offers a more luxury service, possibly competing with the likes of Addison Lee and chauffeur services. The question remains – Is this town big enough for all these services? Only time will tell which of the companies have sustainability and scalability.

London is renowned for having some of the best transport in the world, from unrivalled public transport to the institution of the Black Cabbie. Hopefully these services can streamline the industry and mark the end of waiting hours for a cab or standing on a corner with your thumb out, willing a taxi to stop!

Watch the ‘Cab App Battle’ video to see what the guys from Hailo, Uber, Ubicabs and Kabbee have to say about their service, the marketplace and their competition!
