Hollywood Meets Silicon Valley – Newspepper goes Stateside!

We’re so excited to be launching our four year old company in USA. We have been running out of the UK and Europe for the past four years and decided it’s time to expand stateside!

Now, it’s company tradition to film a spoof music video, and this year since we’re launching over here, we thought this American classic was pretty fitting!

Tonight, (11/10/11), we are having a party at Room 86 on Hollywood Boulevard, not only to launch our company in LA, but to celebrate the convergence between Hollywood and Silicon Valley.

Our new venture ‘Hollywood meets Silicon Valley’ is hoping to tangibly bring together the two worlds which are already merging. With celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga falling over themselves to invest in start-ups, clearly there is in an interest from Hollywood. Not only this, but Hollywood is now looking to Silicon Valley for it’s content – with movies such as The Social Network taking over $200,000,000 at the Box Office, and the Steve Jobs movie, and Wikileaks The Movie set to hit the Silver Screen soon.

If you want to find out more, please visit http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=235960563127010. There are still tickets left, and you can grab them here! http://tinyurl.com/cqnauo3. If you can’t make it tonight in LA, we’re also launching in San Francisco next Thursday (11/17/11)  and we would love to see you there! http://t.co/mkdDuumG

If you are coming, the hash tag is #HWOODSV so get tweeting!

We have BRAVO TV coming to cover the launch, Hollywood directors, YouTube celebrities and many more! We also got some coverage from LA’s hottest tech blog – lalawag! Read about it here - http://lalawag.com/2011/11/09/hollywood-gets-a-silicon-injection/

We’d like to thank our sponsors for helping us realise the ‘American Dream’ Knock Twice, CoLoft, What’s Trending, Mobile Roadie, Mekanism, The Next Web, and for all of you who have supported Team Newspepper since its inception.

We’re here to take over the US and soon enough world domination! Muahahaha!

Enjoy the video, as much as we did making it!

A UK first! PizzaExpress releases first iPhone App & you can now pay your bill via PayPal!

PizzaExpress iPhone app Video from Newspepper on Vimeo.

Good news pizza lovers! Today PizzaExpress launched their first iPhone app in the UK. Not only can you view the menu, search for your favourite restaurant and check your MyPizzaExpress account on-the-go, you can now pay for your bill using PayPal!

The app is ideal for those who have limited time, and need to pay quickly and conveniently. No longer will you have to catch your waiter’s eye to pay the bill. You can just simply download the app, and select the ‘Pay my bill’ option, where you will be asked to enter a unique 12 digit code. You will be given an email confirmation of your receipt, and the store will also be notified that your table has paid – so no opportunity to do ‘a runner!’

This is a ”market first” in the industry and a truly groundbreaking app, which shapes the direction of how we will pay for services in the future.

In the video above, Techflufftv’s Hermione Way, and our sister company Newspepper, teamed up with both PizzaExpress & PayPal to give you an chance to view the app in action and an insight as to how the ‘Pay my bill’ feature can take the stress out of some sticky situations…

You can download the app here! Will you be downloading it today?

Think it all happens in Silicon Valley? You’re wrong! series… TechFluff talks to imeveryone.

This week as part of our Think it all happens in Silicon Valley? You’re wrong! series, TechFlufftv speaks to Mike Maccana who’s recently set up confessions site Imeveryone.

It’s a place where you can get stuff off your chest or just have a look at what other people are talking about. Since launching just a few weeks ago at the end of November, imeveryone has had over 70, 000 visits and 1500 posts – which isn’t bad going!

The big question we ask at TechFluff is with the thousands of sites and apps out there – what makes yours DIFFERENT. Mike says they stand out because all posts have to have a picture or video attached and updates are pushed to the top of the page depending on interaction and time posted.

An invitation to an event that will change the world of retail – meet the man behind it!

On Wed at 9pm  GMT, Australian Internet entrepreneur Ruslan Kogan, who has already disrupted the consumer goods industry in Australia with his own brand TVs that sell online, is going to livestream an international concept of a new site that will change the way people buy consumer goods.

Make sure you bookmark this page and tune in to see Ruslan demo the new site and explain how it works. You can also follow him on Twitter.

I meet lots of interesting people, but Ruslan really is an interesting character who is on a mission to change the world, he has already paid the deposit on a $200,000 ticket to space on Virgin Galactic and tried and failed to get a job at McDonald’s to learn about its business processes, of which he is a huge fan.

If you are a blogger/journalist and would like to come down to Covent Garden tomorrow and meet him yourself, please email me and I might be able to fit you in hermioneway@newspepper.com

The stream is currently password protected , it will be open by the time the stream goes live tomorrow.
